U12G Sonoma Rush had a strong weekend in Redwood City this past weekend where they defeated Napa Energy 5-0, Monterey Tidal Wave 5-0 and Alpine FC Jaguars 2-0 in the preliminary round.

In the Championship, The Rush were against the Redwood Burligame Crushers, a semi-finalist of last year's U11G Association Cup. Despite a constant pressing from the Rush, The Crushers managed to score 3 times on very fast counter attacks during the first period. In the second period, the Rush stepped up their game and fought very hard to come back to a 3-3 by the end of the regulation time. Quickly in the first extra time period, the Rush scored their fourth goal and won the Championship 4-3 (0-3).

Next weekend the Rush will be in Danville...

Sonoma soccer fans should be proud of the tremendous display of athletic courage and determination demonstrated by the U11G Heat over the weekend in the Tiburon Fall Kickoff Classic.  The Sonoma defense dominated in the preliminaries, shutting out Montclair 3-0, drawing Rohnert Park 0-0, and defeating Walnut Creek 2-1 to win their bracket and advance to the finals against Danville’s Mustang Stampede.

Both U16G Excel and U12G Rush teams played a tournament recently in Fair Oaks.

Rush cheered for Excel during the first half of Excel's Championship before going to their own Championship game on the next field.

As Rush played the Folsom Fire, they all briefly paused to look over when they heard the roar of spectator cheers for Excel’s winning goal.

At half time, Rush trailed Folsom 0-1. The entire Excel team went running across the field to encourage Rush and pump them up for the second half.  Together, both teams did the Olé Olé Rush cheer.  Rush ended up losing the Championship 2-3 despite coming back to 2-2 from a 0-2 deficit.  Excel took first place!
